York: Modern slavery and the church

  • Bishopthorpe Palace Bishopthorpe York, YO23 2GE (map)

We would like to invite you to join us at Bishopthorpe Palace for a day of networking and learning on modern slavery.

The National Crime Agency have stated that there are cases of exploitation going on in every city in the UK, with tens and thousands of victims across the country, including in rural areas. How should the Church of England respond to this challenge? How can we raise awareness of the issue, prevent more people from being exploited, and care for the survivors?

We will contribute what we have learnt from our work with dioceses, statutory agencies and academics, but we also want to hear from you about activity going on in your local area. We will discuss how we can join together to build on that work, and champion best practice across our networks.

The event is invite only, with places being allocated through the dioceses of the Northern Province. Please contact us if you are interested in representing your diocese.
