Through training and conferences the Diocese of Example has had a great impact on raising awareness of modern slavery in their region.
Their Diocesan Bishop, speaking at an event, said that “the role of the Church is clear in bringing freedom to the captives and hope to the hopeless”.
The diocese’s focus will be on tackling the most common types of modern slavery in the area, both raising awareness of their impact and also working with the police to identify victims and support the survivors.
They will be enabled by playing a key role in the local Modern Slavery Partnership, where they liaise with local authorities, charities and law enforcement on the key issues facing the area.
The diocesan project lead for the Diocese of Example is Person A. Residing in the northern end of the diocese, she brings a wealth of experience in community development and safeguarding to her current role as Area Dean.
“I hope the Diocese of Example can shine a light on this pernicious crime in the area, working in partnership with others to bring the hidden voices of victims to the fore.”
